There are 17 species of penguins in the world, most of which are on the ‘Threatened Species’ list. 16 of the 17 species live south of the equator and spend half of their lives on land and half in the sea! These adorably entertaining birds (have you seen them "tobogganing," or sliding across the ice on their bellies?) have powerful wings/flippers but cannot fly.
